Supporting Future Leaders in Insurance: Travelers Investing in the Next Generation of Talent

National Academy Foundation and ReadyCT
Travelers partners with career readiness organizations such as the National Academy Foundation (NAF) and ReadyCT to help prepare high school students in Connecticut and Minnesota for high-demand and high-growth industries like insurance. Through these partnerships, Travelers employees assist with developing strategies, directing Travelers resources and planning professional development events that help students achieve academic and career success. Additionally, Travelers offers students opportunities to visit the company’s facilities to learn more about insurance-related technology, products and services, as well as career opportunities.
Students in Hartford also have an opportunity to participate in ReadyCT’s Get Ready! Immersive Traineeship (G.R.I.T) summer program. During the summer of 2023, 30 students participated in paid project-based experiences with Travelers and collaborated on projects related to marketing/branding, technology and customer experience.
Employees were also able to participate in professional development opportunities. In 2023, several Travelers’ employees attended NAF’s annual conference in Arizona to learn best practices related to preparing and recruiting early-in-career talent.
Usher’s New Look
In 2023, Travelers also continued its partnership with Usher’s New Look, a nonprofit that helps students from middle school to college find their career interests through professional development, leadership building, academic support and community involvement. We sponsored the 2023 Disruptivator Summit that brought together 300 students from across the United States to participate in workshops, panels, networking sessions and a job fair. Students also participated in excursions to area businesses, including our offices in Alpharetta, Georgia, where they were taught key professional development skills.
