National Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Cyber threats continuously evolve and pose risks to our customers and business partners, our communities and our company. Travelers takes a holistic approach to cybersecurity, which includes a comprehensive awareness initiative, to foster safe cyber behaviors.
October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month – a collaborative industry – and government-led effort to continue raising awareness around the importance of cybersecurity. Each year, Travelers initiates a campaign to highlight critical risks and actions employees can take to safeguard Travelers’ and our customers’ information.
In 2023, our CyberWise campaign centered on educating, empowering and enabling employees through multiple learning and engagement mediums. Highlights included physical and digital signage, an interactive infographic and training course to increase cyber knowledge, a capture-the-flag competition that tested technical cyber savviness, a series of humorous video shorts focused on common cyber mistakes and Cyber Hero recognition showcasing employee vigilance to thwart cybercrime. Together, these efforts made for a comprehensive employee awareness campaign to help keep Travelers cyber secure.
In 2023, the Travelers Institute, the public policy division of Travelers, marked National Cybersecurity Awareness Month with the release of a new Cyber Readiness Hub, outlining five critical steps that organizations can take to protect against cyber risks. The Institute also hosted a webinar and two in-person symposia highlighting the cyber readiness hub information.
The webinar, part of the Wednesdays with Woodward® series, explored critical steps that organizations large and small can take to enhance their cybersecurity, including requiring multifactor authentication, having an incident response plan and investing in back-ups. The symposia, held in Worcester, Massachusetts, and Kansas City, Missouri, were part of our national Cyber: Prepare, Prevent, Mitigate, Restore® series, which aims to help businesses and organizations tackle evolving cyber threats. The events featured speakers from the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency, along with cyber risk experts from Travelers and cyber breach coaches, who shared insights into the current threat landscape and strategies to help prepare for and respond to a cyber incident.
