Committed to Military Veterans: Supporting Those Who Serve
Military veterans can face challenges when transitioning to the civilian workforce. Travelers recognizes that military veterans can bring valuable experiences and skills to the corporate world and is committed to helping veterans reintegrate into the workforce.
The company participates in military job fairs and maintains relationships with base transition offices and partners, such as Hiring Our Heroes. We also offer robust military-friendly programs and benefits, including:
- The Military/Veterans & Allies Diversity Network, an employee resource group that is open to all employees and focused on building awareness of and recognizing military service members’ and veterans’ skills and experiences.
- A recruiting initiative designed specifically to help military spouses build their careers at Travelers. Since 2020, we have hired more than 300 military spouses and created a forum where they can come together to share tips, exchange resources and offer support to one another.
- An alliance with American Corporate Partners (ACP), a national nonprofit that helps veterans discover their next careers through one-on-one mentoring and networking. In 2025, in honor of our nation’s 250th birthday and as part of the Travelers Across America initiative, we expanded our long-standing partnership with ACP to create 250 opportunities for Travelers employees to mentor veterans and military spouses as they navigate the transition to civilian professional life. Since 2010, approximately 350 Travelers employees have mentored more than 1,000 protégés for customized career mentorships, and a number of protégés have obtained employment with our company.
- Comprehensive benefits for employees deployed on active duty, including full benefits – this is in addition to supplementing employees’ military pay for up to five years of their deployment.
The company has also signed the Statement of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve at both state and national levels and participates in the Department of Defense Military Spouse Employment Partnership, which connects military spouses with partner employers who have committed to recruit, hire, promote and retain military spouses. Travelers continued to partner with Code Platoon to help service members transition into technology careers. We have also been recognized as an Employer for Outstanding Support by the U.S. Navy Reserve and a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon company by the Minnesota National Guard.
We count the following organizations as valued partners in supporting veterans and their spouses:
Travelers is also a sponsor of Operation Shower, an organization that provides baby products to expectant military families through baby showers to help ease the stress of deployment. Through our partnership, Operation Shower baby showers take place annually as part of the Travelers Championship® golf tournament.
In 2025, Travelers continued its partnership with the D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) to host career readiness programs at military bases throughout the country, as well as support workshops that help veteran small business owners sustain and grow their businesses.
