Shattering the Stigma
One in five U.S. adults experiences mental illness. Unfortunately, the stigma associated with a mental health condition is one of the main reasons why people don’t seek the help they need.
Throughout the year, Travelers features speakers and offers activities and resources that can support our employees and their loved ones. During Mental Health Awareness Month, we put a special focus on shattering the stigma associated with mental illness and encourage employees to be champions who support others by wearing green. In 2023, the Travelers tower in Harford, Connecticut, was also lit in green.
All employees and their family members have access to our employee assistance program, which is available 24/7. Beginning in 2024, we have increased the number of free counseling sessions with a licensed therapist from five to eight.
Additionally, the Travelers Institute®, the public policy division of Travelers, has highlighted mental health issues externally through its webinar series Wednesdays with Woodward®. The series explores personal and professional issues impacting our agents, our brokers, our customers, our employees and the communities we serve.
